Hygia
Hygia, commonly called Hyger, as the name implies, was begun as a health resort.  It dates from October 4, 1850, when John Cameron and Edward Hale deeded to Thomas Corothers, one hundred acres of land located twn miles from the Trinity River near San Jacinto Creek.  There was never a post office at Hygia, the people living at the place being accomodated at Maynard, whch was two miles away.
